Favorite Story / Memory during Time Working at Team 1: Edshuna said that her favorite story was from the Winter Party held just a few months ago at Marshall Lanes bowling alley. The reason the party was so memorable? Edshuna said, “I won a 50” TV!” All of the Team Members at the party were entered into a raffle of prizes held during the evening. The TV was the top prize. It’s not the first time Edshuna has been lucky at a Team 1 party. She said that at the previous year’s party, she had also won a TV!

How has Team 1 helped your Personal and/or Professional Development? Edshuna said that Team 1 Plastics has helped her by allowing her to experience the full cycle of customer service. She explained that prior to joining Team 1, she had worked for many years in Customer Service department positions. “I had always been on the front end. Now that I’m working at Team 1 in Shipping and Receiving, I work on the back end. I’m pretty much the last person seeing the product as it goes out the door.” She said that being able to experience the back end has completed the cycle of customer service for her. “That’s how Team 1 has helped me.”

Favorite Aspect of Working at Team 1: It’s the “laid-back atmosphere of Team 1 Plastics” that Edshuna appreciates. “Everybody knows what their role is. It keeps the chaos down. Even when it is chaotic, everybody knows what they are going to bring to the table, and what they’re personally going to do. It keeps the confusion down.” She also likes having the music played over the loud speakers throughout the building. “When you’re caught up in thought, a little music in the background helps you out.”

What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1? Edshuna is married. She and her husband have a blended family which she described as the Brady Bunch – each one bringing three children to the marriage. The children’s ages range from 22 years to 13 years old. They also have two grandchildren.

One of Edshuna’s future goals (when the day-to-day parenting responsibilities are complete) is to open a non-profit organization to support teen moms. She already has a name picked out: K.I.M. That was her mother’s name and stands for Keep Inspiring Mothers. “My goal is to create an environment where teen moms feel safe, supported, and encouraged and not alone — giving them all the tools that they need to become successful parents. Everybody’s situation is different. They’re kids that need help with kids. I was a teen mom so I totally understand the struggles.”

Piece of Advice and/or Encouragement for Future Team 1 Team Members: Edshuna said that the advice she would give is “Come to work and do your job, and it’s okay to help others.” Then, she added, “Come to work with a positive attitude. You’re not going to always have the best day, but if you come to work with a positive attitude, it shifts the mood.”

Random Question: Pineapple on pizza? Yes or No? Edshuna said, “I’m not a big fan of pineapple, so I’ll have to say, ‘No.’” Then, she diplomatically added, “But it looks delicious! It’s not going to ruin the pizza. If I have to eat around it, I will, you know.”
