Growth in Assembly at Team 1 Plastics
Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, has been keenly focused on growth. In the past year alone, the company has added three new 450-Ton molding machines for production and has begun planning for a possible plant expansion later this year. Team 1 also added a new 5-Ton crane for Maintenance and a new forklift for the Warehouse, while also expanding the Engineering Department with the addition of an Automation Specialist.
With all this growth throughout the company, you may be asking yourself an important question… “What about the Assembly Department?” This department has witnessed significant growth in the past year doing value-added assemblies; adding a second shift to keep up with increased orders. Additionally, two new machines have made it to the Assembly floor. One of the new assembly machines is currently in trial with a new part, with full production scheduled for some time during the second quarter. The other machine “was added in the middle of last year,” explained Assembly Lead Captain Shelley Lewis. “We run two different parts on that press, with orders fluctuating a lot. When we do have orders, it makes the department a lot busier.” Attaching two clips to each bracket, this machine and the finished bracket assembly can be seen below.
With the additional shift, new machines, and projections of more work, Team 1 is optimistic about the continued growth of the Assembly Department for years to come.
