Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the mobility industry, has been and continues to be a successful company because of our exceptional team. Today, we will introduce one of these exceptional people, Suzanne Nelson, as we continue a series of articles profiling our team members.

What is your favorite story or memory during your time working at Team 1?
Suzanne’s favorite memory is from the time when she began her employment at Team 1 in November 2017.  “It was an exciting and busy time when I joined Team 1.  There had been activities and events throughout the year for the company’s 30th anniversary celebration.  I was here for the culmination of Team 1’s 30th anniversary celebration – the burying of the time capsule.”  She recalled that the evening event included cake, pizza, and pictures, followed by the company’s monthly Open Book Meeting.  Although the burying of the time capsule was the last event of the 30th anniversary celebration, Suzanne said that “the busyness continued.  We went right into the holiday season — the signing of the holiday cards and having holiday lunches.  It was very busy and exciting time.”

How has Team 1 helped your personal and/or professional development?

 Suzanne said that working at Team 1 has helped her professionally through the learning of new technology.  Team 1 is “very up-to-date and current with all its technology.  Using it in our jobs helps us to work more efficiently.”

What is your favorite aspect of working at Team 1?

It’s the flexibility that Suzanne has and the variety of her work that are her favorite aspects of working at Team 1.  “I enjoy the variety of my job.  Every day there’s something different.  I also like the flexibility that we are given to organize and run our departments to meet our deadlines and our goals.  Gary [Grigowski] is always here for support, if I have questions or need anything, but he lets me run things as I choose.”

What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1?

Suzanne described herself as “a very family-oriented person.”  She is married to Alan, and they have two grown children.  “Our son is 28, and our daughter, who was married last summer, is 24.  We enjoy spending time with our families, and we do a lot of family activities.”  Suzanne said that they enjoy many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and gardening.  Even in the winter, they are busy outside, cutting wood or riding snowmobiles.

Do you have any advice and/or encouragement for future Team 1 team members?

Suzanne’s encouragement for new Team Members is “Don’t be shy about asking questions and learning or trying new things because the owners and the Team Members are all very supportive.  They want to see each Team Member succeed.”

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Laughing, Suzanne said, “According to my husband, Nothing!”  She explained, “There’s food I can fix, but it’s not like you can just go the refrigerator and grab something quick, because there’s really not much in it right now.”  She did confess, “I make sure it’s more stocked when the kids are coming home.”
