What is your favorite story or memory during your time working at Team 1?
Teyontae said that she has lots of favorite stories from her time at Team 1. She decided to share the most recent one. It occurred in August 2019 at Team 1 Plastics’ Open Book meeting. One of the highlights of the monthly Open Book Meetings is the spinning of the prize wheel by Team Members who either answer a question or have a birthday during that month. After answering a question correctly, Teyontae spun the wheel and won the best prize – a choice of eight hours of PTO (Paid Time Off) or $100. She chose the $100 prize and used the money to go out to dinner on the weekend.
How has Team 1 helped your personal and/or professional development?
Working at Team 1 has helped Teyontae “become more dependable and outgoing.” She explained that when she first started working at Team 1, she was “a little scared to try a lot of different stuff.” But with the encouragement of people at Team 1, she has become more confident in trying new things and taking advantage of opportunities. She said that she has recently been thinking about taking some college courses and also considering taking advantage of training opportunities at Team 1.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Team 1?
“Team 1 cares about their employees, and working at Team 1 is pretty flexible for me,” Teyontae said. “After being here and seeing how the company works, it just fits me.” Teyontae also appreciates the location of the company. “It’s right around the corner from my house.
What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1?
Teyontae is a mother to five children – three boys and two girls – ranging in ages from nine to two which keeps her very busy. “I’ve got my hands full! My job being part time really suits me because I’m able to work and still go home and do my motherly duties.” Making sure she keeps her life in balance, Teyontae did say that she does “take some time for myself.”
Do you have any advice and/or encouragement for future Team 1 team members?
“Team 1 always has positions open. It’s up to you how far you want to go. If you’re willing to try, they’re willing to work with you in order to get you ready for a new position.”
Now for a totally random question:
Cake or pie?
“Cake! I like chocolate cake with just ‘regular’ white frosting,” Teyontae said. “I know some people like whipped frosting, but I don’t.” She added that most pies really just really don’t appeal to her. “I can count on one hand how many different pies I like.”
