Meet Ryan Murphy: Summer Intern Spotlight
Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, believes that building an exceptional company is the result of building exceptional teams with exceptional people. The company looks for Team Members who are honest, demonstrate a high level of integrity, have an eagerness to learn, contribute to a safe work environment, and value each person in a diverse workforce. Today, Team 1 is proud to introduce a valuable Intern joining the team for the Summer: Ryan Murphy.

RYAN MURPHY
Hometown: Marshall, Michigan
College: Ohio Northern University
Field of Study: Musical Theater
Hobbies: Music, video games, board games, art, and hanging with friends
From center stage to shop floor, Ryan Murphy is spending his summer far from the bright lights of musical theater—but he’s found a new kind of rhythm at Team 1 Plastics. A student at Ohio Northern University majoring in musical theater, Ryan joined Team 1 at the end of May and will work full-time through August. Inspired by his brother’s positive experience as a previous intern, Ryan decided to give Team 1 a try—and hasn’t looked back.
His day-to-day tasks range from painting walls and racks to cleaning presses, running for supplies, and power washing. “A little bit of everything,” Ryan says, appreciating how no two days are the same. Among his favorite jobs? Painting. “It’s relaxing, but it’s also cool to see the before and after,” he shared. Power washing comes in close second—he finds satisfaction in restoring cleanliness and seeing immediate results. Ryan says the experience has broadened his skillset in unexpected ways: “So far, working here I’ve gained a lot of skills with equipment that I didn’t have before. The odd jobs that I might need to know later in life—I know how to do those now.” But what stands out most is the sense of community. “Everybody is just nice. It feels welcoming. Nobody is shut off from others, and everyone is willing to help. It is a good community.”
Maintenance Manager Andy Zblewski has seen that firsthand. “Ryan has been a joy to have in the maintenance department this summer. He shows up eager to work and has completed everything asked of him without much direction. He is a fast learner and is easy to get along with. I am sure that he will succeed in whatever he chooses to do in the future.”
