Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, has been and continues to be a successful company because of our exceptional team.  Today, we will introduce one of these exceptional people, Dennis Williams, as we continue a series of articles profiling our team members.

What is your favorite story or memory during your time working at Team 1?
One of Dennis’s favorite early memories at Team 1 was setting up a new automation cell for Press 59. Just three months into his role, it was his first major project – and a meaningful one. He was involved in determining the spacing of the robot, conveyor, and overall layout, bringing ideas from concept to reality. For Dennis, it was about “putting a little bit of myself into it” and seeing something he envisioned come to life – especially as it was a new experience both for him and for Team 1.

How has Team 1 helped your personal and/or professional development?
Dennis describes his current role as a full-circle moment. Since high school, he had dreamed of working in robotics, but after college, his career path shifted toward mold design and plastics processing due to industry demand. While those roles brought him close to automation, this position at Team 1 finally allowed him to fully step into that space. As he puts it, “this is my high school dream come true.” His background in molding has also proven to be a key advantage, helping him succeed in his role as an Automation Engineer.

What is your favorite aspect of working at Team 1?
For Dennis, it comes down to the people. “Everyone here is easy to get along with,” he shared. He appreciates the balance between professionalism and approachability, noting that it’s refreshing to work in an environment where you can have normal conversations, feel comfortable, and still take pride in your work.

What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1?
Outside of work, Dennis stays busy with his wife, three kids, and three dogs. Family time often includes concerts, trips to the park, and staying involved in his kids’ activities. During quieter moments, he enjoys playing games with his kids, designing toys and gadgets with his 3D printer, flying drones, and reading.

Do you have any advice and/or encouragement for future Team 1 team members?
Dennis encourages others to stay curious and collaborative. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Nobody can know everything,” he said. He believes that with so much experience across the team, challenges are easier to tackle when people work together and share different perspectives – even in unfamiliar situations.

What is your favorite book series?
Dennis enjoys dark fantasy and lists The Witcher series and The Farseer trilogy among his favorites.
