Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, has been and continues to be a successful company because of our exceptional team.  Today, we will introduce one of these exceptional people, Katie Burke, as we continue a series of articles profiling our Team Members.

What is your favorite story or memory during your time working at Team 1?
One of Katie’s funniest memories happened during her first year at Team 1, when an ice storm caused the shop to lose power. She remembers the moment vividly—and humorously. “I shot out the door so fast. I don’t do the dark,” she laughed.

How has Team 1 helped your personal and/or professional development?
Team 1 has supported Katie’s growth both personally and professionally. After being a stay-at-home mom, returning to work helped her regain physical strength and improve her mental health. She enjoys the hands-on learning style in assembly and began her journey on second shift, where she quickly stood out. Because of her strong performance, she was trusted to help train new team members.

What is your favorite aspect of working at Team 1?
Katie values the family-oriented culture at Team 1. She appreciates that everyone is approachable and supportive, creating an environment where people truly belong. To her, it feels less like just a job and more like a “work family,” where everyone fits in and looks out for one another.

What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1?
Outside of work, Katie stays busy with her family. She has one son and three stepdaughters, and she loves spending time outdoors camping and kayaking with them. When it’s time to relax, her favorite movie to watch is Elf.

Do you have any advice and/or encouragement for future Team 1 Team Members?
Katie encourages new team members to listen carefully and pay attention to the details. She believes success isn’t just about speed, reminding others that “it isn’t always about quantity—it’s about quality.” Most importantly, she says to simply try your best.

What is an experience you would love to try but haven’t yet?
Katie would love to experience something adventurous—either skydiving or swimming with dolphins.
