Team 1 Plastics Invests Again in Growth with New 450 Ton Sodick Machine

Team 1 Plastics is proud to announce the arrival of a new 450 Ton Sodick molding machine, scheduled to begin production at the end of this month. This addition brings the total number of molding machines on the production floor to 30 and marks the company’s second new machine since July, following the arrival of the Nissei.

EXPANDING CAPACITY and CAPABILITIES

Plant Manager Dave Sanford explained that the Sodick was added to both increase capacity and prepare for new business. “This new machine gives us the ability to handle a new program starting in October,” he said. While this is the fifth Sodick in the 450 Ton range for Team 1, it comes with greater capability. “This one offers a larger barrel — 1,017 grams — that allows us the ability to run larger parts moving forward,” Sanford noted. The new Sodick features a 396-gram larger shot size than the company’s other 450 Ton Sodicks, enabling Team 1 to better serve its customers.

SUPPORTING GROWTH and EXPANSION

Sanford emphasized that adding new molding machines reflects the company’s long-term growth strategy, especially as the plant expansion progresses. “This reinforces that we are continuing to grow along with the building expansion. These new machines start running production parts as soon as they are installed,” he explained. He added that this Sodick also fills out the company’s current manufacturing footprint. “As a team, we’ve squeezed as much production out of our current space, and to continue to grow with our customers, we needed to expand,” he said.
