Craig Carrel Guest on Podcast

Craig Carrel, President and Co-owner of Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, was recently featured on The Manufacturing Alliance podcast. Hosted by Tony Demakis of Alliance Laser Sales, the podcast discusses “All Things Mold Making, Manufacturing, Machining, and More.”

During the half-hour interview, Carrel and Demakis talked about the history of Team 1 Plastics, its 30th anniversary, the importance of branding and social media, the benefits of automation, and Team 1’s Championship Dream.

Talking about how the owners decided on the company name, Carrel said, “We didn’t want to name it after ourselves, and we didn’t want to name it after our location … Somebody came up with the idea of Team Plastics … Early on, we wanted to try and develop a Team philosophy … We submitted it to the State [of Michigan], and somebody already had it!” After agonizing and struggling to come up with a name, they finally came up with the idea of Team 1 Plastics.

Carrel said that he considers that initial setback a blessing because he feels that Team 1 Plastics is a better name. “Our customers know us as Team 1 and … it has the connotation of a team, but also the number one that we’re striving to be the best in our business … It’s been a great fit, and it’s been a nice brand that we’ve been able to build around.”
