Favorite Story / Memory during Time Working at Team 1: Hesham said that one of his favorite memories occurred early in his tenure with Team 1. He decided to attend the annual Winter party for the Team Members. He said that he had never attended a company party before. “All I expected was that we were going to go there and eat and drink.” He was completely shocked when some ladies grabbed him and pulled him onto the dance floor. He soon found himself in the middle of a circle of ladies dancing. “It seemed kinda crazy and weird to me, but it was kinda fun. I liked it!”

His other favorite memory is how the company survived both the Recession of 2008 and the Japanese tsunami. Thinking back on those two events and how they affected the finances of Team 1, Hesham said, “It is quite shocking that the company was still there. With our great ownership, we made it, and I still had a job.”

How has Team 1 helped your Personal and/or Professional Development? Hesham started at Team 1 Plastics right out of High School as a Temp on the production floor. He said that he didn’t know anything about injection molding, but his co-workers and supervisors helped him learn. “They walked me through the process, and they gave me encouragement to try for new positions – to try things that I had never done.” And Team 1 provided training for Hesham in several different areas, such as injection molding, supervision, and robot programming.

Favorite Aspect of Working at Team 1: Hesham said that he really appreciates his co-workers and the Team 1 Plastics owners. “We work as a family, and ownership is really involved in what we do. They really care about us.” He explained that working with the owners is different than working with your supervisor. “And they make us feel that Team 1 is not just for the owners. They want us to feel that this place is for everybody. This is like a family company, and we are all part of the family. That’s my favorite part of working here.”

What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1? “My family is number one! I like to play with my kids.” Hesham has a seven-year old daughter and two sons. The boys are five years old and 19 months old. “I like to do things with them.” He also likes to work on projects around the house. He said that his philosophy on home projects is that he needs to try to do the project first. “If I can’t do the work, then I need to hire someone to do it for me.”

Piece of Advice and/or Encouragement for Future Team 1 Team Members: “Do your job correctly and impress your supervisor and anyone around you.” That is Hesham’s advice for future Team Members. He thinks that you shouldn’t just work for a pay check. You should be looking to and preparing for advancement. “Don’t think that you’re always going to be a Production Assistant. Think ahead. What do you want to be at the company?” And, Hesham believes that you should take advantage of the free training that Team 1 offers. “If you find something that you like to do, and your training is complete, when the position comes open, you’ve got it!”

Random Question: Best ice cream flavor – “Orange,” Hesham said without any hesitation, confirming that it was orange cream – not orange sherbet. He did admit that he will eat other flavors, but if the flavor is his choice, he will always choose orange because “I’m addicted to it! I can eat other flavors, but if I have the option, it’s orange!”
