Introducing: Summer Interns of 2024

Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, believes that building an exceptional company is the result of building exceptional teams with exceptional people.  The company looks for Team Members who are honest, demonstrate a high level of integrity, have an eagerness to learn, contribute to a safe work environment, and value each person in a diverse workforce.  Today Team 1 is proud to introduce two valuable Interns joining the team for the Summer: Logan Murphy and Andrew Kase.

LOGAN MURPHY

Hometown: Marshall, Michigan
College: Michigan State University
Field of Study: Sports Psychology
Hobbies: Golfing, listening to music, playing video games, and spending time with friends

Studying Sports Psychology at Michigan State University, Logan came to Team 1 Plastics in mid-May.  During his time with the company, Logan has appreciated “the variety of experiences, bouncing around to different departments.”  Having never worked in a manufacturing setting, he was amazed at the amount of automation on the Team 1 Production floor.  “I thought it would be more like an Assembly-type setting.”  Additionally, when asked about his favorite aspect of working at Team 1, Logan’s answer was an easy one: “The people here are all really nice and very inviting.  Also, I really got more out of it than I thought I would. This is one of my better job experiences so far.”

Logan has been a stellar addition, making a positive impression from the start.  Team 1 Plastics Maintenance Manager Andy Zblewski shared, “Logan came in and started preparing tools for return to the customer. I was very impressed that he understood what was expected to be done, took his time, and did a great job with them. He does not say much but is very easy to work with and he took advice from all of the maintenance employees. Overall, he is a hard-working, well-centered young man.”  Suzanne Nelson, Controller and head of the Accounting Department added, “Logan came to help in accounting, processing accounts payables and accounts receivables. I have been very impressed with how quickly he picked up on it, understood what was expected to be done, took his time, and has been doing a great job!  He is willing to help with any job that needs to be done.”

ANDREW KASE

Hometown: Marshall, Michigan
College: Grand Valley State University
Field of Study: Computer Science
Hobbies: Golfing and lifting weights

Studying Computer Science at Grand Valley State University, Andrew came to Team 1 Plastics at the same time as Logan, in mid-May.  During his time with the company, Andrew has been working with the Information Technology (IT) Department, “doing a lot of coding,” while developing programs and leaving behind something tangible.  “Andrew has done an exceptional job this summer as an IT intern,” explained IT Manager Josh Nye.  “A very self-motivated worker; I threw an entire programming project at him. He basically ran with it, creating software that will greatly assist our Assembly Department.”

Andrew has spent his time at Team 1 Plastics fully immersed in work experience relevant to his field of study.  “The projects that they have put me on so far feel applicable to my field and real-world experiences.”  Also new to the manufacturing setting, he was pleasantly surprised to see many Team Members loving their job.  “People seem happier than I was expecting, and they all seem to get along well.  It doesn’t matter who I ask for help, everyone has been so helpful.”

Team 1 Plastics Human Resources Manager Rob Clothier explains the importance of the company’s internship program. “Having an internship program creates a pipeline between Team 1 and the students/schools.  We’ve made a few key hires through the connections we’ve built through Ferris State University,” shared Rob.  “It’s a great opportunity for the students to get real-world experience and benefits Team 1 because we like to have them work on projects that will add value to the company.”

Both Interns have been valuable assets to Team 1 Plastics, while having great attitudes and performing top-notch work.  With another month remaining at the company for the Summer, both Logan and Andrew are optimistic about what they might learn next.  Getting first-hand experience working at a plastic injection molding facility, while leaving vital improvements behind.  Team 1 has been very fortunate to have Logan and Andrew on the team.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH!
