Favorite Story / Memory during Time Working at Team 1: Sandra said that her favorite memory at Team 1 is when she met Craig Carrel (President and co-owner of the company). “I met him when he came out to the production floor. He introduced himself to me. He is a very nice person and is always friendly. He always has a good smile, and he gives off a good vibe.”
How has Team 1 helped your Personal and/or Professional Development? It is the training that Team 1 provides that has helped Sandra in the different positions she has held at the company. “We have great training,” Sandra said. “The company provided the training I needed for the Quality Auditor [QA] position which included learning to drive the forklift.” It was also the encouragement that she received from her fellow Team Members that gave her confidence that she could succeed. She said that she was very nervous and apprehensive in learning to drive the forklift, but Tammy Dowding encouraged her by saying, “Girl, you can do this. You can do this.” Another Team Member, Carlos Cisneros, assured her, “I’m going to help you out” in referring to the work required in the QA position.
Favorite Aspect of Working at Team 1: What Sandra likes best is when the Team Members work as a team and help each other out. “I tell everyone, it’s called Team 1 for a reason. We have a friendly environment, and this is a great place to work.” Sandra also likes that the company is located in Albion, Michigan. “I’m in Albion and Team 1’s in Albion. The location is very convenient, and I can walk to work” – something which Sandra says she has often done in times when personal transportation was a challenge.
What do you want to share about your life outside of Team? Sandra said that when she is not working, she is either going to church or else with her grandkids. She has four adult children and 21 grandkids, ranging from 17 years old to four years old. Thankfully, they all live fairly close to her – in Jackson, Battle Creek, and Albion. “Christmastime is a big deal. I start Christmas shopping in June so that by November, I’ll be through.”
Piece of Advice and/or Encouragement for Future Team 1 Team Members: When someone new is working on Sandra’s shift, she said that she gives him/her this advice, “Just relax and breathe. You can get through it. I’m right here. If there’s anything that you might miss or anything that you might not know, you can ask me. I’ll let you know if it’s right or not. You don’t have anything to worry about. So just breathe!”
Random Question: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book? Without even needing to think about it, Sandra instantly listed these two books: “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”
