Team 1 Plastics Announces Totals from Fund Raising Campaign
Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the transportation industry, is thrilled and grateful for the tremendous response to its 30th Anniversary Fund Raising Campaign. A total of $8,981.53 was raised during the nine-month campaign, including a $4,000 match of gifts by Team 1 Plastics. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously!
The campaign was designed to raise funds for local community projects. This is in keeping with Team 1 Plastics’ Championship Dream, and its commitment to Albion, Michigan. Each gift received was divided to support two funds:
- 30% of each donation directly supported Starr Commonwealth’s Albion-Marshall Resilient Communities Project.
- 70% of each donation helped grow the Team 1 Plastics Charitable Fund through the Albion Community Foundation to support future projects in the Albion community.
In a brief ceremony at Team 1 Plastics on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Craig Carrel and Gary Grigowski, Co-owners of Team 1, presented a check to Elizabeth Carey, President and CEO of Starr Commonwealth in the amount of $2,695 for the Resilient Communities Project. Tim Krause, Executive Director of the Albion Community Foundation assisted in the presentation.
According to Starr Commonwealth, since the merging of the Albion and Marshall high schools in 2013, Starr Commonwealth has been active in helping the students affected work together to help heal the divide that has existed between their communities for generations. By holding Youth Symposiums on our Albion campus and at Albion College, Starr was able to open a discussion with students about diversity and implicit bias, and begin building new positive relationships.
Building on the successes of the children who attended these symposiums, Starr turned its attention to the adults in Albion and Marshall. With the help of key community leaders, the Albion-Marshall Resilient Communities Project was started; which in its first year brought members of both communities together through field trips, movie screenings, book discussions, workshops, and structured dialogues. In the coming second year, these events will be expanded to include training for employees of Marshall Public Schools, Albion College, Starr Commonwealth, and other key community organizations.
For its tenth anniversary, Team 1 Plastics established a formal relationship with the Albion Community Foundation to ensure its charitable investing ability can continue for a long period of time. When the 30th Anniversary Fund Raising Campaign began in March 2017, the balance of this fund was around $27,000. According to Krause, due to the generous donations received during the fund-raising campaign and good market gains, the balance of the fund is now over $37,200!
Thank you to customers, suppliers, community members, business partners, and Team Members who gave so generously to the campaign!
