Honoring Those Who Have Served for Veterans Day

Every year on November 11 our country observes the federal holiday known as Veterans Day, originally termed “Armistice Day.”  It was on this day in 1918, during World War I, that the Allied nations and Germany signed an armistice, agreeing to temporarily stop fighting; marking the end of “the war to end all wars.”  According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, “the observance of Veterans Day [on] November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.”  So, each year it has become commonplace in our nation that on the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” two minutes of silence are to be observed, in honor of the armistice.

Today, Team 1 Plastics would like to honor all the brave men and women who have served our country.  In recognizing the true burden of a veteran, we must acknowledge the sacrifices made by those who were fortunate to return from their deployments safely.

The hard realities of a veteran can include those of loss, trauma, and injury.  We cannot acknowledge our veterans without also remembering the great burdens they may bare in silence.

Additionally, we would like to recognize the service of our very own veteran Team Members: Craig Clem, Marcus Battin, Vance Bodell, and Eric Boyd.

Craig Clem was an active Marine for 4 years (Nov. 3, 1979 – Nov. 1, 1983) and reserved for 2 years. He served as MOS 0311 Grunt, MOS 0331 Machine Gunner, MOS 0830 Marksmanship Instructor, and MOS 0841 Scout-Sniper.  Craig’s duty stations include Marine Barracks – Norfolk, VA, Dam Neck Rifle Ranges – Virginia Beach, VA, 2 Marine Division, and 24 Marines Amphibious Unit – Beirut, Lebanon.
Craig joined Team 1 in August 2017.

Marcus Battin served in the Air Force as a Nuclear Missile Technician.  He was stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Marcus joined Team 1 in August 2016.

Vance Bodell served in the Air Force for 4 years.  He was stationed at George Air Force Base in California.
Vance joined Team 1 in May 2016.

Eric Boyd served in the U.S. Army from August 1988-June 1992 in the 82nd Airborne Division, and 782nd Maintenance Battalion as a Specialist 4.  During his time in the service, he was a 63 Bravo Mad Mechanic and completed a total of 42 jumps.  Eric was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ for Basic Training and AIT, and completed Jump School at Fort Benning, GA.  His Permanent Duty Station was in Fort Bragg, NC and he also served in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm.
Eric joined Team 1 in September 2022.

Thank you for your service to this country.  We are honored to have you all as a part of our team.
