Profile of Team Member – Amanda Larry

Favorite Story / Memory during Time Working at Team 1: Amanda said that her favorite memory is the Summer Picnic in 2017. “It was a fun time. The kids had fun with all the games and activities.” One of the many activities was a dunk tank which Amanda really enjoyed. “It was fun watching all the participants get dunked.” The highlight for her? “I got to dunk Gary [Grigowski] on my first try!”
How has Team 1 helped your Personal and/or Professional Development? It’s the training that Amanda has taken at Team 1 that she believes has helped her become more professional. She participated in both Quality Auditor training and Die Setter training while she was a Production Assistant.
Favorite Aspect of Working at Team 1: Amanda responded, “The openness of the company,” referring to the monthly Open Book Meetings. She explained, “I like to be able to know what’s going on.” Amanda said that she regularly attends the meetings, having only missed three or four since she joined Team 1. Amanda also likes the email system, being able to communicate with everybody and that the Team Members can be “all on the same page when we get group emails.”
What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1? Amanda has four children, two girls and two boys, ranging from ages 5 to 15. Her daughter, Ja’Nyece is 15 and in the 10th grade at Marshall High School. Her oldest son, Ty’Rell, is a Freshman at Marshall High School. Sirrell is her 12-year old son who attends Marshall Middle School. The youngest daughter is Sha’niya, who is five years old and attends Headstart in Albion. Amanda said that she “likes watching the kids play sports or just hanging out with them.” They enjoy family trips together, including a very memorable one to Gatlinburg, Tennessee a few years ago. Amanda also likes doing things outdoors and hanging out with family and friends on the weekends.
Piece of Advice and/or Encouragement for Future Team 1 Team Members: “Take advantage of the opportunities – the different trainings” that are available at Team 1, and “Pay attention and learn as much as you can.” And, Amanda added a piece of advice that she received one time when she was ready to give up, “Stick with it!”
Random Question: If you could shop for free at one store, which one would you choose? Amanda chose Meijer or Walmart, explaining “That would be the best place because you’ve got clothing, food, and electronics. I don’t know what other stores have all that.” Amanda described them as “one-stop shops” with a bonus that they are open 24 hours a day. “Shop anytime! Everything you need is there!”
