What is your favorite story or memory during your time working at Team 1?
Shelly worked with Team 1 from 1995-2000 and remembers it when there were “no robots.” Before automated production of parts, Team 1 Production Assistants had to hand-cut the parts from the runners after they came off the presses. When she returned as a Production Assistant in 2019, she was pleasantly surprised to see this would no longer be part of her job description.
How has Team 1 helped your personal and/or professional development?
Shelly is happy to say that Team 1 has been an enjoyable place to work and is glad to have a team of such great coworkers. This positive environment has helped her stress level and has made going to work much more enjoyable. Shelly began in 2019 as a Production Assistant and was able to train as a Quality Auditor in March of 2020, which she enjoys much more. She feels that Team 1 does a great job allowing their team members to grow in this way.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Team 1?
“Team 1 is an awesome place to work and allows room to grow in all departments. They look out for their employees and provide ways for employees to grow.” Shelly worked in management with a fast food chain before returning to Team 1 in 2019. She made the decision to return because it was enjoyable and familiar to her. She was proud to share that her daughter started working as a Production Assistant at Team 1 in 2019 as well, only a few months after Shelly.
What do you want to share about your life outside of Team 1?
Shelly loves spending time with her family. She has two daughters and five grandchildren, ranging in ages from 2-10 years. When spending time with her family, Shelly enjoys hiking and taking nature walks on her daughter’s 3.5 acre property. Her grandchildren particularly enjoy watching the birds and squirrels with her.
Do you have any advice and/or encouragement for future Team 1 team members?
When asked about any advice she would give, Shelly was confident to say “Just be the best you can be and if ever in doubt, ask someone because they will be there to help you.” This is part of why she is grateful for the team members with whom she works. Shelly suggests that any future Team 1 member take advantage of the many opportunities to grow within the company.
Now for a totally random question:
If you could travel anywhere in the world and money was not an option, where would you travel and why?
Shelly did not name a specific place she would want to travel, but was certain it would need to be some place very warm. Also, she would only travel somewhere that she could get to by car or train. “I was not born with wings or fins,” she says; stressing her opposition to travel by plane or boat.
