Team 1 Plastics Aids Michigan Center Robotics Team
Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the mobility industry, recently was honored to assist the Michigan Center Middle School First® Robotics Team with its competition robot.
According to Steve Trefry, a coach of the MC Hammers robotics team, Team 1 Plastics machined the side plates that support the robot’s drive base. He said that the plates “provide support for the wheels, protection for the perimeter of the robot, and our team number identification.”
The plates were made of plate aluminum and machined according to specifications from the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model that Trefry provided to Craig Clem, a Tool Maintenance Specialist at Team 1 Plastics and the father of one of the Robotics team members. Clem said that the plates were machined and engraved by Jadon Austin, another Tool Maintenance Specialist, on Team 1’s CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) machine. Clem said, “Jadon did a great job on the plates for the robot.”
Several MC Hammer team members, Joslin Clem, Brian Meabon, Devoni Dorsey, Kylie McKee, and Alexandra Maule, were onsite at Team 1 to observe the machining of the plates. They also participated in a tour of Team 1’s facility.
Competition for the MC Hammers begins this coming Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Parker Middle School in Howell, Michigan. According to First® in Michigan‘s website, Opening Ceremonies begin at 10:30 am, followed by Competition starting at 11:00 am and running throughout the day. The event concludes with the Closing Ceremonies scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.
Team 1 Plastics wishes the MC Hammers much success in their upcoming competition. Craig Carrel, President and Co-owner of Team 1 Plastics, said, “We are strong supporters of robotic teams and glad we could help them out.”
