In 1999, with input from all team members, Team 1 Plastics adopted their Championship Dream. This written agreement, similar to a mission statement, entails “how the company lives and breathes as they do business” and includes four core values: Customer Service Excellence, Team Member Success, Freedom to Succeed, and Positive Community Member.
Team 1 holds true to being a Positive Community Member by putting their donations and volunteer efforts toward organizations and events within the local communities of Jackson and Calhoun counties. Some of those donations and volunteer efforts include Public Schools, Junior Achievement, Starr Commonwealth, Albion Chamber of Commerce, South Michigan Food Bank, Albion Community Foundation, and local community events.
Team 1 recently continued their role as Positive Community Members by contributing to Albion’s 3rd Annual Eggstravaganza: one of Michigan’s largest egg hunts! This free community event was held at Victory Park in Albion on Saturday, April 9. In 2019, when the city was unable to hold an egg hunt due to funding, a local couple took over the responsibility. Nathan Fuentes and his wife Audra both grew up in Albion and wanted to give back to their hometown. “We started it just to give back to the community. There’s been a lot of negativity surrounding Albion in the past, so we are trying to bring something big and positive to the kids. Our plan is to make it bigger every year.”
This year the event included over 15,000 candy-filled eggs hidden among the grounds of the park, bike raffles, basket giveaways, and fresh grilled hotdogs. The turnout was more than many could have anticipated, with an attendance around 500: including roughly 200 kids from Albion and the surrounding communities.
